Saturday, 10 June, 2017 - 14:45

Three asylum seekers and their children who were recently released from Francistown center for illegal immigrants after the high court ordered their release have been sheltered at the Dukwi refugee camp.

The three had approached the high court challenging their prolonged detention at the center after their application for refugee status were rejected.

Their attorney, Morgan Moseki told Gabz Fm news that his clients have been given tents and food rations at Dukwi refugee camp.

Moseki reiterated that it is unlawful for government to continue detaining rejected asylum seekers at the Gerald Center for Illegal Immigrants.

According to section 6 of the refugees regulation and control act, refugees should not be detained for more than 28 days after they have been rejected.
