Tshepo Happy Maphanyane is a young woman born on New Year’s to parents who are both teachers by profession. “RB1 was one of the best things I ever got to do ‘speaking of one of her introductions to the media world. She was an on air presenter on the widely listened radio station in the country. Her fan base grew as people could put the face to her name when she went on to present a popular entertainment programme on Botswana Television (DIACHA). During this time she conducted a lot of interviews many still lusted after by the media. Music giants such as Hugh Masekela, Sibongile Khumalo and Yvonne Chaka Chaka shared their musical journeys with her and in each interview managed to make it personal and intimate.
Her drive and commitment to share without an expected prize made her a good choice for invitations to direct ceremonies or give motivational talks in schools. It was at one of these gatherings where she was invited to record jingles for Gabz-FM. She was later offered a job as an on air presenter on one of the most sought after seats on radio, the afternoon drive. In one of her interviews she has been quoted as saying ‘what I do is not work; it is an extension of my personality. Her joining MultiChoice Botswana as the company’s Publicity & Public Relations Executive came as no surprise to many. Her 10 year tenure at MultiChoice has made big productions such as Big Brother Africa, Idols, Face of Africa synonymous with her name.
Outside her professional scope, she is a young woman who is passionate about community involvement and has been involved in some community work both at work and personal level. Her greatest passion has been working with young people and organisations that care for multi disabled children (Cheshire Foundation and Bontleng Primary School).
