BDP GOES TO PRIMARY ELECTIONS WITHOUT CANDIDATES IN THE MAUN EAST CONSTITUEMCY

Article By: Tumelo Muowane

The Botswana Democratic Party, BDP will GO IN to this weekend’s primary elections without parliamentary candidates in Maun East constituency. This is because the party has failed to appoint candidates with only a day left before the primary elections popularly known as Bulela-Ditswe.

BDP spokesperson Kagelelo Kentse however said elections will continue for council seat candidates.

It is not yet clear why the party has failed to appoint candidates for the constituency but it is expected that the party intends to field a candidate who will not be contested shortly after the primary elections.

The issue has also irked party elders in the constituency over uncertainty of who is going to be appointed.

Still on the BDP Party secretary general Kavis Kario has called on the party members in constituencies which will not be voting this weekend to avoid disturbing the electoral process by encroaching into areas where Bulela Ditswe will be ongoing.
