The Botswana Democratic Party will soon issue a writ for the party’s 2023 primaries, inviting members to express their interest in contesting.
The BDP is expected to host primary elections under which constituencies will elect members that will represent the party in the 2024 general elections as Parliament and council candidates.
Addressing the media post the party’s Congress in Palapye, BDP Secretary General Kavis Kario said despite the delay, the party is still within a reasonable time frame to hold Bulela Ditswe this year.
Kario estimates that the announcement for the expression of interest will be made in November.
Meanwhile,
The party has resolved to increase the number of specially elected members of Parliament and councilors positions with the aim of enhancing the representation of women in political positions.
