The Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) says the resignations of former presidents Thuso Tiego and Donald Motsumi are not a major blow to the party.
The two resigned on the 14th of February and the 8th of April 2025 respectively.
Speaking to Gabz FM News, Acting President Julius Baitumedi stated that despite their former senior roles, the departures will not derail the party’s direction or operations. He revealed that Tiego had pushed for BMD to join the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), but the proposal was rejected by the National Executive Committee, citing the need for a wider party congress decision.
Meanwhile, Thuso Tiego has criticized the BMD’s internal processes, accusing the party of lacking transparency and proper leadership structures.
