Article By: Diana Motsu The Botswana Sectors of Educators Trade Union, BOSETU, has rejected allegations made by the Minister of Basic Education and Child Welfare, Nono Kgafela Mokoka, regarding a case in which a student was reportedly left paralyzed after being beaten by a teacher.
The Minister made the claims during a recent Kgotla meeting in Goodhope, where she revealed that the Ministry is investigating the incident.
In response, BOSETU has dismissed the allegations as unfounded. The union’s Secretary General, Tobokani Rari, told Gabz FM News that the Minister should publicly provide proof of the claims she made.
He said that such serious accusations cannot be made without evidence, especially when they have the potential to damage the reputation of the teaching profession.
