Illumination levels in Francistown have dropped to 57%, far below the city’s service standard of 90%, due to a surge in cable thefts.
Speaking at a consultative meeting held at Phase IV Community Hall this morning, Francistown Mayor Gaone Majere expressed concern over the declining illumination levels and the impact on residents.
Majere called on civic leaders to foster a stronger neighborhood watch program, urging community members to work together in combating the rising incidents of cable theft that are leaving large parts of the city without power.
