A local man is facing possible jail time after being found guilty of lying under oath in a sexual assault case involving two separate incidents from 2021.
Onkabetse Nkgosi was accused of assaulting the victim on two occasions, with the second assault accompanied by a threat to kill her if she reported the matter. Despite the threat, the victim later came forward.
Magistrate Gofaone Morweng ruled that Nkgosi’s testimony was inconsistent and clearly aimed at avoiding accountability. The court found him guilty, citing strong supporting evidence presented during the trial.
The case is scheduled to return to court on April 15 for mitigation and sentencing.
