ESSENTIAL MEDICATIONS BACK IN STOCK IN BOTSWANA FOLLOWING SHORTAGE

Article By: Rorisang Mogojwe

The Ministry of Health has announced that most essential medications are now available in the country following a recent shortage.

According to the ministry, the current stock of essential medications can last up to six months.

The ministry is, however, working around the clock to ensure the continuous availability of all medications, including cancer and eye medication, which are still in limited supply.

Minister of Health Dr. Edwin Dikoloti recently assured that the ministry has interventions in place to ensure that the country has sufficient supplies of medicines at all public healthcare facilities across the country.

These interventions include luring pharmaceutical manufacturers to set up shop in Botswana and promoting disease prevention, early diagnosis, timely management of illnesses, and rational use of pharmaceutical products.
