The Small Business Association of Botswana (SBAB) says the Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA) has rejected its appeal to revise regulatory fees, despite their negative impact on small businesses.
Speaking to Gabz FM News, SBAB Chairperson Moemedi Lentswe said the association’s recent meeting with CIPA was unproductive, with all critical concerns dismissed.
Last month, the association launched a campaign highlighting the financial burden CIPA’s flat-rate fees place on SMMEs. Lentswe confirmed that a petition is now underway to push for a review, warning that without change, the fees could further stifle the growth of small enterprises already facing multiple challenges.
